Ann Widdicomb MP is coming to Cardiff on 4th March as part of her “Not on your life..or anyone else’s” tour, which seeks to promote anti-abortion goals around the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill.
I will be going to protest outside.
The debate on abortion has been well and truly had. I’m not going to argue my side here, but I will state my position: I believe a woman’s body is her own, there are too many badly cared for children in the world, and that believing that terminating an early stage embryo is akin to murdering a baby is just a hop, step and a jump away from “every sperm is sacred”.
The details for anyone interested:

It’s a sad indictment of my state of mind that I’m desperate to make a joke along the lines of “But all my sperm are sacred, oh yeah baby” but sadly I’m not The Fonz/Joey Tribbiani/Chef/Quagmire so it just wouldn’t work.
Equally, on a scale of one to ten how tasteless would it be to imply that Ann Widdicombe is a perfect example of where abortion ought to have been more readily applied?
Putting my silly hat aside, I agree with your stance on abortion though – might make a day trip to Walesland for it.

Hi there – a woman’s body is indeed her own but it takes a man and a woman to get another life into it, don’t you think? I agree one should have choice but a mutual choice where possible? I appreciate this opens up all sorts of caveats about rape, and I see the need for discussion in that sort of a case, or where the unborn life endangers the carrying one, but for me life is sacred and the decision is not the woman’s alone. All that said, I find A.W’s strident attitude a little bit unpleasant; I wonder if she has room for debate?
